Lamborghini released what can only be understood as a teaser to the sound of a new Lamborghini. It starts with the familiar hum off the V10 in the Gallardo, before secretly switching to the more masked and pitched tune of the V10 Huracan. Only at the last minute does it switch to the simple start-up of the future engine that will power the next generation "baby" Lamborghini. It's only 4 short days until we see the new vehicle, but we already know its name and that it will come equipped with a 10,000 rpm V8 motor assisted by a hybrid drive. It seems odd to correlate this new vehicle with its predecessors in anything but appearance only. It was a forgone conclusion that Lamborghini has come out from under the shadow of its Audi overlords and that it was a concerted effort to build the new car, but it seems odd to link the parentage in anything other than name only. With the Reveulto the legacy included the engine, but here it does not, by what we've been told. Even with a name that means "reckless" in English, there seems to be no link to a fighting bull as we can tell, but we are no experts in bulls beyond loud ones with big engines and the 4 liter V8 doesn't equate to big. Will it equate to powerful or popular? As the last hum of the starting powerplant has a lower hum and more subtle and I would venture some would call seductive tone than its high pitched contemporaries only time will tell if it rivals their popularity or performance.
