The Hennessey Venom F5 sets a blistering 271.6 mph run at the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds in Florida. The truth is Hennessey had no intention of breaking any records on this run. It was done simply to work out the kinks.
The 300 mph barrier has been a goal for many automotive manufacturers, feeling it's the next Mclaren F1 moment that will solidify them at the top of the food chain. It may be a swan song for some as electric cars start to inundate the market. This is the chance to grab a piece of history and hold on. It will be interesting to see where the Venom F5 lands once it actually tries for the record.
