Ken Block, the legendary rally and gymkhana driver and DC Shoe Co-founder, passed away today at 55 years old. Ken had an incredible rally career, but he came to prominance through viral social media. Known for his Hoonigan vehicles he would tear through cities in uniquely built and impressive vehicles. He continued to set the bar high for himself. He also co-found DC Shoes in 1994 with partner Damon Way and brought his unique style of fashion to the skateboarding world.
The Hoonigans social media Instgram page posted a confirmation at 9:01 PM Eastern of his passing, stating "Ken was a visionary, a pioneer and an icon. And most importantly, a father and a husband. He will be incredibly missed." (source @thehoonigans) For many Ken Block wasn't just a name, he was a hero and a leader. Constantly setting the bar higher and higher in everything he touched and bringing all those he touched with him. We wish his family and friends strength in this difficult time. Update: According to Wasatch County Sheriff's Office, Block was riding his snowmobile around 2 PM. While on a steep slope he vehicle upended and it landed on top of him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
