The world watched with baited breath as Lamborghini unveiled its first EV concept at Monterey today and although the videos say concept, it's clear they intend to have the launch in 2028. It's part of their Direzione Cor Tauri strategy which will decarbonize the gas guzzling brand that went into action in 2021. It seemed like an odd choice to start their EV direction with a Grand Turismo shape instead of a coupe or even a much desired sedan model. The shape is distinctly Lamborghini and seems to add even more sharpness to the edges and line so I wonder if that's a design choice. Inside it will feature 2 electric motors and will introduce their Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata (LDVI) control system. It seems that there will be a lot more control over the dynamic handling of the vehicle than in the past. The early expectations were that an Asterion style vehicle would be launched, so it took a few double takes to understand that this was exactly the vehicle they were introducing, but once you take a closer look you begin to see the differences to the Urus. I doubt we'll get an answer of why they went this direction with the vehicle, but it'll be interesting to hear what people say after seeing it and if this sentiment will be complimentary.
