You may not know this, but Queen Elizabeth II was an automotive enthusiasts. She was still driving well into her 90s and she could because being the queen means she didn't need a license. Not just that, she drove whenever she got the opportunity.
She was the first of the royal family to serve full time in the service and there she learned to turn wrenches in the Auxiliary Territorial Service where she was a truck driver. That's where she earned the title Princess Auto Mechanic. Every picture we saw she had a giant grin next to her truck. That driving passion never left her after becoming queen. She wouldn't stop driving, preferring to chauffeur the family herself. Well into her 90s it was reported she diagnosed and fixed cars. She always looked happy behind the wheel and I'd wager she was a very proficient driver as well. For obvious reasons her favorite vehicles were British in heritage, having a collection of Bentley and Rolls-Royce. In 2018 her Rolls-Royce limo sold for a million dollars. It seemed in my research that her manufacturer of choice was Jaguar and Land Rover. She can be seen many times driving around in the models with her custom mascot adorning the hood and grill. When pressed for her favorite the answer was the 2002 Land Rover Defender 110 TD5, the kind of specific answer only a true car enthusiast would have. Chances are a Defender will be her final carriage that ferries her to her last resting place and it's very fitting for a lady who may have wore the crown, but was distinctly one of our community.
